Habitats, Human Impact and Management
Discover our deep connection to habitats of the world.
In this science and geography curriculum-aligned excursion, students in Years 5 and 6 discover how environmental conditions around the world have resulted in unique and diverse habitats.
Through immersive digital and exhibition experiences, they consider the ways in which Earth changes over time, investigate a local case-study impacting a threatened mammal and explore management strategies.
Students will experience
- Being immersed in the diverse ecosystems of Victoria in the 270 degree digital Learning Lab.
- Facilitated exploration of Our Wondrous Planet exhibition with a museum educator.
- Exploring the rich biodiversity of life across planet Earth.
Students will learn
- How key habitats are shaped by their physical conditions and the living things that inhabit them.
- Environments change through natural or human-induced processes which vary in timescale and magnitude.
- How research into indicator species help scientists track habitat health.
- How human actions and technologies can manage impacts.
- The deep connection we have with our natural environment.
Students will be provided
- In-exhibition tool to support curriculum-focused exploration of Our Wonderous Planet.
